Wildflowered Northern Greece – Spring to Early Summer 5-Day Ecotour
250 000 Ft
- Recommended Age: 3+
- 2-6 person
- 5 days
- April 15 – May 31
We make no secret of it – this is the most enchanting season to explore the natural landscapes of Northern Greece. Spring brings nature’s rebirth. At this time of year, tourist numbers remain low, so both land and sea are peaceful and calm. The number of sunny days is comparable to summer, and the weather has a distinctly early-summer feel. By early May, sea temperatures can already reach 20 °C. In the mountains, however, snow can still fall, so our hikes can feel like a journey through time – from summer back into winter or early spring.
During our tours, there is a chance to observe, among others: Fritillaria drenovszkii, F. montana, F. pontica, Pulsatilla halleri, Saxifraga sempervivum, S. ferdinandi-coburgii, Asphodeline lutea, Iris reichenbachii, 15–20 orchid species (e.g. Serapias vomeracea, Orchis italica, Ophrys reincholdii, Orchis quadripunctata, Himantoglossum jankae), Gladiolus italicus, Dracunculus vulgaris, Paeonia saueri, Haberlea rhodopensis, Tulipa hungarica subsp. rhodopensis, Scolopendra cingulata, Empusa pennata, scorpion species, Testudo graeca, Testudo hermanni, numerous snake species (e.g. Xerotyphlops vermicularis, Platyceps najadum, Vipera ammodytes), Ophisaurus apodus, and bird species such as Gyps fulvus, Circaetus gallicus, Phoenicopterus roseus, Pelecanus crispus, Vanellus spinosus, Sternula albifrons, Emberiza cirlus, E. melanocephala, Curruca melanocephala, and many more.

- day: Sunrise observation and search for marine mammals and tuna schools, followed by an introduction to the wildlife of coastal shrublands (phrygana) and plane-tree gallery forests.

We reserve the right to modify the programme. We aim to adapt our itineraries to the weather, so the locations planned for each day may change. On days of heavy rain, we offer an alternative visit to the Alistrati Cave and Canyon.
